Funding the Builds
Most customers can't pay $10,000 or more in construction costs to get fiber out to their farmstead, so we apply grants to help finance the BEK Fiber network. So far, BEK has won over $16 million in competitive government grants to help rural North Dakotans connect to what matters to them.
Continued Growth
The BEK Fiber service area is larger than the state of Massachusetts. We started building the BEK Fiber network in 2004, spending more than 10 years reaching every customer in our 5,300 square mile cooperative area. Since then, we've expanded to 1,000 square miles around Bismarck/Mandan and in Valley City. In the next few years we'll cover over 1700 square miles surrounding rural Valley City and more around rural Mandan.
